Vintage Gothic Sewing Part 3 "Neue Mode Bahnen Rock"

 Ich hatte gedacht, es würde mir leichter fallen über Vintage Gothic Mode und die entsprechenden Projekte zu schreiben ,aber das tut es nicht 

Ich bin von Natur aus nicht übermässig wortgewandt ,auch wenn man mir oft unterstelllt das ich zuviel rede.

Im Augenblick bin ich noch zuhause und erhole mich von den Virus ,der uns alle irgendwie seit zwei Jahren in Schach hält und weiss nicht wirklich was mit mir anzufangen 

Ich habe bereits eine Menge Bilder rausgesucht ,von  mir selbst ,ebenso wie auch aus den Zeitschriften .Dennoch bleibt die Frage für wenn mache ich das alles .Egal ..ich hab eh nichts besseres zutun.Wobei ab morgen startet eine #summergoth Nähchallenge drüben auf Instagram .Mit der grätsche ich dann immer mal dazwischen bis Mitte nächsten Monats .

Mein Schnittmuster gab es in einer Frauenzetschrift meiner Mutter ,der Tina ,und wurde von der Firma "Neue Mode" gedruckt .Die Schnitte werden heute nicht mehr gedruckt,da es die Firma nicht mehr gibt ,aber man kann sie downloaden oder aber man findet sie hin und wieder auf Etsy

I thought it would be easier for me to write about vintage gothic fashion and related projects, but it's not

At the moment I'm still at home recovering from the virus that's been keeping us  for two years and I don't really know what to do with myself

I've already picked out a lot of pictures, of myself, as well as from the magazines.  It doesn't matter,if anyone will readthis. I don't have anything better to do anyway. Although a #summergoth sewing challenge will start over there tomorrow on Instagram . 

So back to the Vintage Goth Fashion .One of the projects I have a photo of is a 6 panel skirt.My pattern was in a women's magazine of my mother, Tina, and was printed by the company "Neue Mode".The Pattern are Out of Print today ,but you can download them or find it on Etsy from time to time

Mein Rock war nach unten nicht ganz so voluminös da ich einen nur 90 cm breiten Seidentaft hatte .Die Farbe war aubergine ,passend zu meinen Haaren .Durch die schmale Breite hae ich die Teile unten nicht ganz drauf bekommen und dann waren es höchsten 2 Meter .Es war ein Rest bei Karstadt ,glaube ich , und es war die Hölle zu nähen .Megarutschig und der hat gefranst an den Nähten wie Sau 

Ich musste lle Teile Ketteln und der Reissverchluss hinten ,franste ständig wieder aus der Naht .ich trug damals eine 40 .

Die Corsage hatte ich in einer Boutique gekauft .Ich glaube es war Piemkies ,das Tuch von Bijou Brigit ebenso die Handschuhe und die Kette 

Die Fotos sind auf dem Ohlsdorfer Friedhof entstanden .

My skirt wasn't quite as voluminous at the bottom because I had a silk taffeta that was only 90 cm wide. The color was aubergine, matching my hair. Due to the narrow width I couldn't get the pieces exactly all the way ,because I had only  2 meters . It was a left over from Karstadt, I think, and it was hell to sew. Super slippery and it frayed at the seams like hell

I had to overlock all the parts and the zipper at the back kept fraying out of the seam. I was wearing a 40 at the time.I had bought the corsage in a boutique. I think it was Piemkies, the shawl by Bijou Brigit as well as the gloves and the necklace

Vintage Gothic Sewing Part 2 "Adam and the Ants "

 Um einen Anfang zu finden starten wir mit Adam Ant ,den ich heute noch sehr verehre und jetzt wo ich älter bin und er wieder als Musiker aktiv ,auch desöfteren live in London erleben durfte

Adam Ant ist und war der Paradiesvogel der Zeit .ursprünglich aus dem Punk ,war die Band Adam and the ants später eher Neo Romantic Punk .Immerwieder gerne genannt mit Gruppen wie Visage

Möge sich jeder sein Urteil darüber bilden

Adam Ant seine Style zu kopieren war mit in Deutschland Kaufbaren Sachen nicht wuírklich zu fianzieren .Erst sehr viel später kamen Eistüten Hosen und Netz Shirts in die In Boutiquen meiner Heimatstadt ,die eigentlich mit zu den Großstädten gehört.

Meine Großmutter war so nett mir das Nähen an der Nähmaschine bei zubringen ,so das ich in der Lage war den Style nach zunähen ..so ungefähr jedenfalls

in den 80igern gab es eine erhebliche Menge Handschriften Zeitungen oder Frauenzeitschriften mit Schnittmuster Specials .Daher werdet ihr hier überwiegend Deutsche Schnittmuster finden ,von denen man heutzutage die meisten im Internet als PDF runterladen kann .Ich werde die entsprechende Verlinkung einfügen

Den Stil den Adam Ant trug ( und noch trägt ) nennt man immer noch Highwayman Dandy Style und Pirate Style

In einem Interview hat er mal gesagt das er seine Kleidung aus Second Hand Shops und Theater und Opern Abverkäufen bezieht .

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of me from my Gothic days in the 80s, because I always wavered a bit between Gothic and breakdance. Forgive me, but that's how the times were

o find a beginning we start with Adam Ant, whom I still admire very much and now that I'm older and he's active as a musician again, and who was often able to see him live in London

Adam Ant is and was the bird of paradise of the time. Originally from punk, the band Adam and the Ants was later more neo romantic punk. Always popular with groups like Visage

May everyone make up their own minds about it

Copying Adam Ant's style was not really possible with things that could be bought in Germany. It was only much later that ice cream cones pants and net shirts came into the in boutiques of my hometown, which is actually one of the big cities.

My grandmother was kind enough to teach me how to sew on the sewing machine so that I was able to sew up the style...that's kind of what it was anyway

In the 80s there was a significant amount of manuscripts, newspapers or women's magazines with pattern specials. Therefore you will find here mostly German patterns, most of which can be downloaded from the Internet as PDF today. I will add the appropriate link

The style that Adam Ant wore (and still wears) is still called Dandy Style and Pirate Style

In an interview he once said that he gets his clothes from second hand shops and theater and opera sales.

Schwer zu übersehen ,denn Adam trägt diesen Style heute noch auch wenn die Original Jacke bzw das Original Outfit heute im V&A Musuem in London ausgestellt wird.Das letzet Foto rechts zeigt Adama heutzutage auf der Kings of the Wild Frontier Tour 2016

Ich habe damals aus Kostengründen mich für den klassischen PiratStyle entschieden .

Deutschland ist ein Faschingsland .Jedes Jahr im Februar finden hier,vorallem ab Mitteldeutschalnd abwärts ,Karnevalsfeste und Aktivitäten statt ,so das man an die Stoffe in dieser Zeit und auch in der Zeit danach vorallem relativ billig kam .Faschingsseiden sind so ziemlich das fürchterlichste was man verarbeiten kann ,denn die meisten sind Plastik pur ,aber das interessierte mich mit 16 -17 nicht wirklich.

Da ich kein Geld für Schnitte hatte und auch nicht erfahren genug war meien eigenen zumachen ,ging ich in die grösste Bibliothek Bremens "Die Sögebibliothek" und sah mich beid en Handarbeiten um.Es gab dort damals die Burda zum Ausleihen ,einschliesslich aller Sonderhefte wie Fasching Spezial.

In den 80igern fand man dort zwar nur Ein-Grössen Schnitte vorrangig in den schmallen Grössen ,was mir ,die damals auch noch 34-36 trug ,sehr entgegen kam 

Ausserdem fand ich einige Einzelschnitte auf dem Flohmarkt ,was in Norddeutschland bis heute eher selten ist ,da wir hier nach dem Kindergarten und der Schule nicht wirklich Karnevaliten sind .

For cost reasons I decided to go with the classic pirate style.Germany is a carnival country. Every year in February, carnival festivals and activities take place here, especially from Central Germany downwards, so that the fabrics were relatively cheap during this time and also in the period afterwards. Carnival silks are pretty much the most terrible thing you can get because most of them are pure plastic, but that didn't really interest me when I was 16-17.

Since I had no money for cuts and wasn't experienced enough to make my own, I went to the largest library in Bremen "Die Sögebibliothek" and looked around at both handicrafts. At that time there was the Burda to borrow, including all special issues such as carnival Special.In the 80s you could only find one-size-fits-all cuts, primarily in the smaller sizes, which suited me, who was still wearing 34-36 at the time, very well.I also found some individual Pattern at the flea market, which is still rather rare in northern Germany, since we are not really carnivalite here after kindergarten and school.

Meine Hose bestand anstelle aus Leder aus einem schwarzen Satin.

Genäht nach dem Schnitt im rechten Foto ,der aus einer alten Burda meiner Grossmutter stammt Ebenso das Hemd .In der Mitte sieht man vorallem die Stoffe die in Deutschland bis heute zum Karneval verarbeitet werden 

My pants were black satin instead of leather.

Sewn according to the cut in the photo on the right, which comes from an old Burda of my grandmother. The same applies to the shirt. In the middle you can see the fabrics that are still used for carnival in Germany today

Der Highway Dandy Man Style

Mein Cape war ebenfalls aus billigem schwarzen Satin .Eine Weste in der Art hat mir damals mein Grossvater geschenkt .Sie stammte von seiner alten Polizei Ausgeh Uniform .Benäht habe ich die dann mit goldenem Posamentband ,das eigentlich für Gardinen gedacht war und weiteren goldenen Knöpfen aus dem Fundus meiner Grossmutter ,der ein wahrer Schatz war .

Und ich hab die Sachen mit der Hand aufgenäht .Wochenlang .Mit Hilfe meiner Oma 

Ein Dreispitz,eine Patronengurt und eine Spielzeug Revolver  kaufte ich nach Fasching im Abverkauf bei Karstadt ,einem  Warenhaus ,ebenso die Marabu Federn in schwarz ,rot und gold .Angeklebt wurde dies mit Patex .

Alles in allem haben mich beide Styles zusammen etwa 30 Markt gekostet.Was damals viel Geld war .

Soviel hat mich auch meine Kings of the Wild Frontier Vinyl gekostet.Meine erste Platte ,die ich mir von meinem Tschengeld gekauft habe ,Ein Import mit Fan Book .Ich habe sie bis heute und es ist bis heute mein Lieblingsalben von Adam Ant 

Es ist groundig ,Piratstyle halt 

My cape was also made of cheap black satin. My grandfather gave me a vest like that. It came from his old police uniform. I then sewed them with golden trimmings, which were actually intended for curtains, and other golden buttons from my grandmother's fund, which was a real treasure. .

And I sewed things on by hand. For weeks. With the help of my grandmother

I bought a tricorne hat, an ammunition belt and a toy revolver after carnival in a sale at Karstadt, a department store, as well as the marabou feathers in black, red and gold. This was glued on with Patex.

All in all, both styles together cost me about 30 Deutschmark, which was a lot of money at the time.

That's how much my Kings of the Wild Frontier vinyl cost me. My first record, which I bought with my money, an import with a fan book. I still have it and it's still my favorite Adam Ant album

Vintage Gothic Sewing Part 1 "The History "

Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich über meine Lieblings Alternative Näh Community bei Ig  @seamripperandfriends  gefragt „Was näht ihr gerade an Vintage Goth Schnittmuster ? Bzw Habt ihr überhaupt schon mal einen genäht? „ und bekam keine Antwort .

Gleich danach haben wir eine Anfrage gestellt ob den Interesse daran besteht mehr über Vintage Gothic Schnittmuster zu erfahren und auf etwas über Goth Vintage Fashion und es besteht anscheinend .Lange Rede ,kurzer Sinn.

Ich wollte das schon ganz lange machen ,hier nun meine Geschichte aus den 80igern ,90igern bis heute

A few days ago I asked over my favorite alternative sewing community on IG @seamripperandfriends  “What are you sewing on vintage goth patterns right now? Or have you ever sewn one? " and got no answer.

Right after that, we asked if there was an interest in learning more about vintage gothic sewing patterns and something about goth vintage fashion and it seems there is. Long story short.

I've wanted to do this for a long time, here's my story from the 80s, 90s to today

Ich komme aus finanziell übersichtlich Verhältnissen ,wie wohl viele von uns

Ich bin ein Einzelkind

Meine Eltern waren Automechaniker und Sachbearbeiterin ,also nichts spannendes

Also ..wie bin ich zum Gruftie geworden ?

Es gab drei Inspirationen

-Adam Ant

-Madonna

-Einen Mitschüler namens Dominique ( fragt mich nicht warum sein Name Weiblich geschrieben wurde ) und seine Clique ..die Grufties meiner Schule

I come from a financially manageable background, like many of us
My parents were car mechanics and clerks, so nothing exciting
So ..how did I become a goth?

There were three inspirations
-Adam Ant
-Madonna
-A classmate named Dominique (don't ask me why his name was spelled female) and his clique ..the Goths of my school

Von mir gibt’s es leider keine Bilder zu meinen 80iger Gothic Zeiten ,da ich immer ein bisschen schwankte zwischen Gothic und Breakdance .Man möge es mir nachsehen aber so waren die Zeiten nun mal

Ich habe dann bis in die Anfang 90iger einen Teil meiner Sachen selbst genäht ,was dann aber stoppte ,weil man sich über mich lustig machte.Nicht alt genug um dazu zustehen ,stoppte ich das nähen und spielte ein paar Jahre Steel Dart anstelle dessen.

1995 ging ich nach Frankfurt am Main und lebte dort 5 Jahre .Mein letzter Freund dort bracht mich zurück zum Gothic und zum Nähen .Ein der damals bekannten Modelabel war Xtra Fashion ( kommen wir im Zuge der Serie noch drauf ).Serh teuer ,für sehr einfache Qualität um es mal vorsichtig zu sagen .

Daher fing ich mit wieder mit dem Nähen an .In Frankfurt herrschte ein strenger Dresscode .In Deutschland gab es zu dieser Zeit kaum geeignete Schnittmuster ,aber es gab schon das Internet .Ich suchte in der Amerikanischen Ebay nach Halloween Schnittmuster ,schrieb die Leute an ,tauschte Geld in Dollar und schickte die Summe per Post vorab und bekam Wochen später dann das Schnittmuster .Es lebe Paypal!! Aber es war auch witzig.

Durch meine Dart Zeit hatte ich auch Kontakte zu Leuten der US Army ,die dann ebeanfalls so liewaren mir entweder die Schnittmuster von ihren Heimatbesuchen mitzubringen oder sie liessen sie für mich in den USA einkaufen und schicken .

Von der in Deutschland vorhandenen Auswahl benutze ich häufig Karneval Schnittmuster aus Spezial Heften oder Braut und Abendkleider .Brokatstoffe und schwere Samtstoffe erwarb ich in der deutschen Ebay .Häufig waren es Abverkäufe von Polsterfirmen und es gingen eine ganze Menge Einrichtungsstoffe durch meine Nähmaschine ,welche damals noch eine 60iger Jahre ZIG ZAG war ,die meine Großmutter mir vererbt hatte .Diese Maschine war unverwüstlich .Sie besaß nur 2 Stiche :Gerade aus und Zig Zag .Die konnte sogar Polsterleder nähen.

Ich möchte mit dieser Serie zeigen ,was für Low Budget Möglichkeiten es gibt .Ausserdem würde ich gerne zeigen wie man mit einem kleinen Auswand aus Standart 08/15 Schnittmustern etwas Dunkles nähen kann

Zusätzlich möchte ich etwas Gothic Modegeschichte zeigen und ein bisschen der Gothic Kultur der 80iger und 90iger wieder aufleben lassen

I come back sewed some of my own stuff into the early 90s, But I stopped it as my Friends making funny Jokes about this Give .And it is a Give to sew your own Clothes.Not old enough to handle this Shit ,I began to play Darts instead of Sewing 

In 1995 I went to Frankfurt am Main and lived there for 5 years. My lastest  boyfriend there brought me back to Gothic and sSwing. One of the well-known fashion labels was Xtra Fashion (we'll get to that in the course of the series). Very expensive, for very simple quality to say it mildly.

So I started sewing again. In Frankfurt there was a strict dress code in the Scene. In Germany there were hardly any suitable patterns at this time, but the Internet already existed. I looked for Halloween patterns on the American Ebay, wrote to people, exchanged German Money for dDllars and sent the sum by post in advance and then received the pattern weeks later. Long live PayPal!! But it was also funny.

Through my darts time I get in contact with people from the US Army, who were  so kind to either bring the patterns for me from their home visits or they have someone who bought it for me in the USA and sent it to me via Army Post

From the selection available in Germany, I often use carnival patterns from special magazines or bridal and evening dresses. I bought brocade fabrics and heavy velvet fabrics on German Ebay. Often there were sales from upholstery companies and a lot of furnishing fabrics went through my sewing machine, which at that time was  a ZIG ZAG from the 1960s that my grandmother had inherited me. This machine was indestructible. It only had 2 stitches: Stright and Zig Zag. It could even sew upholstery leather.

With this series I would like to show what low-budget options there are. I would also like to show how you can sew something dark gothic Clothes  with a little effort from standard run-of-the-mill patterns.Additionally I want to show some Gothic fashion history and revive a bit of the Gothic culture of the 80's and 90's

In the last Time we are often talking about Goth Fashion Style Pattern .Many of the younger Ones didnt know that there where quiet a lot Gothic Pattern back in the 80ties and 90ties.All of the big Four have there own Serials of it .and so I think it was time to show you some that I have had in my Colelction for quiet a while ,before I resell them in the Beginnings of 2010.

Talking about Gothic Style Pattern ,we have to talk about "Arkivestry" for Simplicity

Arkivestry is the Designer Duo Robi Diana and Karin Fleisch ,who based in New York.

They design and styled  so so so many famous Stars back in the 80ties till today 

Next to Ozzy Osborne ,Meat Loaf,Cyndi Lauper ,Diamond Galas there where a bunch other Ones 

They design Stage Clothes and next to this alot of Sewing Pattern ,from the 90ties on for Simplicity .Starting with classical Goth Pattern ,their Designs are more Steampunk today.
